1.   India’s most backward district: Haryana’s Mewat.
A.    A preliminary ranking for the 101 most backward districts of India that have signed up for the Narendra Modi government’s ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme has released by NITI Aayog.
B.    While Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram is the best-performing district of the 101 Haryana’s Mewat is the lowest-ranked among these backwards districts.
C.    On the top of the table Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon and Maharashtra’s Osmanabad lie second and third.

  

2.   GSAT-6A Satellite successfully launched by GSLV.

A.    GSAT-6A Satellite into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) on March 29, 2018 successfully launched by India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F08).
B.    At Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, the spaceport of India launch of GSLV was its twelfth and took place from the Second Launch Pad.
C.  This is the fifth consecutive success achieved by GSLV carrying indigenously developed Cryogenic Upper Stage.

 

3.   Rs 59 cr penalty on ICICI Bank imposed by RBI.
A.    A monetary penalty of Rs 58.9 crore on ICICI Bank Ltd for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI has imposed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
B.    This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, taking into account failure of the bank to adhere to its directions/guidelines said by the central bank, in a statement.
4.   CEO of ‘Ayushman Bharat’ mission appointed by Indu Bhushan.
A.    As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Centre’s ambitious Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission (ABNHPM) Indu Bhushan has been appointed.
B.    In Manila, Philippines, Bhushan, the Director General of East Asia Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been appointed to the post for a period of two years.
C.    The launch of the Ayushman Bharat mission recently has approved the Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

 

5.   Ethiopia new Prime Minister Abiye Ahmed.

A.    Following the resignation of Hailemariam Desalegn last month Ethiopia’s ruling coalition has voted in Abiye Ahmed as new prime minister.
B.    Abiye chosen by the 180-member council of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) to succeed Hailemariam as the chairperson of the coalition, meaning he automatically becomes premier.
C.    Over 60 percent of all votes in the council won Abiye.
D.    As Acting Chairperson of NGT SC Appoints Justice Jawad Rahim.
E.    New acting chairperson will discharge his duties until a regular appointment is made and will take part in selection process of other members of the NGT said by a bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud.

6.   As Deputy Collector Andhra Pradesh appoints shuttler Srikanth.
A.    As a Deputy Collector by the Andhra Pradesh government ace Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth has been appointed.
B.    The appointment letter handed over by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to him in Amravati in the presence of former All-England champion and celebrated badminton coach Pullela Gopichand.
C.    For recently receiving Padma Shri award Srikanth congratulated by Chief Minister.
7.   With 92% vote Egypt’s Sisi re-elected.

A.    He ousted Egypt’s first freely elected president Mohamed Morsi in 2013, won his first term in 2014 with 96.9 percent of the vote.
8.   Sreekumaran Thampi selected for J.C. Daniel Award.
A.    For the J.C. Daniel Award, the Kerala government’s highest honour for lifetime contribution to Malayalam cinema Lyricist and director Sreekumaran Thampi has been selected.
B.    The award, comprising Rs 5 lakh and a citation, would be presented to Thampi at the Kerala State Film Award said by the Culture Minister A.K. Balan.
C.    In 1966 with Kattumallika Thampi made his debut and has written over 1,000-odd melodies.
