  2. 10th Global forum for Food & Agriculture (GFFA)was held in Berlin, Germany (18th-20th Jan); with Theme: “Shaping the future of Livestock- Sustainably, Responsibly, Efficiently”
  3. India ranks 62nd among emerging economies on the Inclusive Development Index, falling from its last year’s ranking of 60th, according to a report released on Jan. 22 by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum. Norway – 1st; China -26th ; Pakistan is at -47th place.
  4. As per PwC survey, India has emerged as the fifth most attractive market for investments and the optimism over global economic growth is at a record level

    1. first close of the NIIF Master Fund took place on October, 16, 2017 with contributions from a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and four Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), viz., HDFC Group, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Life and Axis Bank.
    2. India-UK Green Growth Equity Fund (GGEF) is also being set-up under the fund of funds vertical of NIIF, and shall have anchor commitments of GBP 120 million each from Government of India (through NIIF) and Government of UK.
  9. Reliance Industries (RIL) become the first Indian company to cross the Rs 6-lakh crore mark in market capitalisation as its shares touched a 52-week high of Rs 974.5.
  10. HDFC Bank become the first bank to cross market capitalisation of Rs 5 lakh crore recently.
  11. 48th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, with theme ‘Creating a shared future in a fractured world’ in Davos, Switzerland.  WEF 2018 will also see the largest ever proportion of women leaders including all co-chairs being women this time.
  12. The first Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) of Puducherry was inaugurated by Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Minister for External Affairs at Karaikal.
  13. The Telangana government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Clean Authority of Tokyo in connection with municipal solid waste incineration in Hyderabad.
  14. The Raipur Municipal Corporation in Chhattisgarh organised the three-day ‘Kachra Mahotsav 2018’. It is India’s first Garbage Festival.

  16. The first International Dam Safety Conference-2018 was held in Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) from January 23-24, 2018.

  17. Manipur Government has launched the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT), a health assurance scheme for the poor and disabled people.  (insurance cover up to Rs 2 lakh)
