1.   20 March: International Day of Happiness.

A.    Every March 20 the International Day of Happiness is celebrated worldwide.
B.    Philanthropist, activist, statesman, and prominent United Nations special advisor Jayme Illien conceptualized and founded it to inspire, mobilize, and advance the global happiness movement.
C.    “Share Happiness” is the theme of International Day of Happiness 2018.
2.   21 March: International Day of Forests.
A.    On the 21st day of March, the International Day of Forests was established by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on November 28, 2012.
B.    For the benefit of current and future generations, each year, various events celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests, and trees outside forests.
C.    “Forests and Sustainable Cities” is the theme of the International Day of Forests in 2018.
3.   In Buenos Aires G20 ministerial meeting opens.
A.    In Buenos Aires, the first G20 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors began with the presence of 57 delegations from different countries and institutions.
B.     Before Argentina hosts the G20 Summit on November 30 to December 1 this is the first of five such meetings to be held.
4.   Plastic Park to be set up in Deoghar approved by Government.
A.    The Government of India has approved the setting up of a Plastic Park in Deoghar District, Jharkhand announced by Shri Ananthkumar, Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs.
B.    In an area of 150 acres the project would be set up at a cost of Rs. 120 crores.
C.    A range of polymer products including woven sacks, moulded furniture, water tanks, bottles, pipes mosquito nets, etc would be manufactured in it.
D.    The Minister informed that for attracting investment for setting up an ecosystem for plastic industry and generate employment opportunities for the local populace, it has a great potential.
5.   The World’s First Trusted Digital Repository: NCAA.
A.    As the world’s first Trusted Digital Repository as per ISO 16363:2012 standard National Cultural Audiovisual Archives (NCAA) project of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, implemented by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) has been certified.
B.    It was granted by Primary Trustworthy Digital Repository Authorisation Body Ltd. (PTAB), United Kingdom.
C.    On this platform over the next five years the plan for the next phase is to integrate about three lakh hours of audiovisuals materials, a corpus estimated based on a scoping survey conducted in 25 cities across the country.
6.   Inland Ferry Services in Goa inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari.
A.    The Inland ferry services in the port city of Vasco in Goa has inaugurated Shri Nitin Gadkari.
B.    While addressing the needs of the poor, environment and ecosystem must be given its due priority said the minister.
C.    To achieve this, all the stakeholders need to make a concerted decision and action.

 

7.   MoU signed by SBI, IMGC.
A.    A pact to offer mortgage guarantee scheme for prospective non-salaried and self-employed home loan customers signed today by India’s largest lender SBI and India Mortgage Guarantee Corporation (IMGC).
B.    The State Bank of India (SBI) said in a statement, the offering will help increase home loan eligibility up to 15 per cent within the regulatory norms.
C.    Between National Housing Bank, Genworth Inc International Finance Corporation and Asian Development Bank, IMGC is a joint venture.
D.   To the lending Institutions in India, it is providing mortgage default guarantee.

8.   As ambassador of India to Korea Atul M. Gotsurve has appointed.

A.    As the next Ambassador of India to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Shri Atul M. Gotsurve (IFS: 2004) has been appointed.
B.    He is currently Director in the Ministry of External Affairs.
C.    He is expected to take up his assignment shortly.
9.   Paramveer Parwane: Indian Army Releases Book on Paramveer Chakra Awardees.

A.    Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat, released a book on Paramveer Chakra Awardees – ‘Paramveer Parwane’ on 20 March 2018.
B.    It is written by Dr Prabhakiran Jain published by Medha Books and the book illustrates the bravery of Paramveer Chakra Awardees from 1947 to 1965.
C.    The book has eleven short stories, poems, and songs highlighting the history of the battles in which the brave soldiers sacrificed their lives.
10.  Its 6th foundation day celebrated by BIRAC.
A.    Its sixth Foundation Day celebrated the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
B.    ‘Sustaining Innovation – A Market Driven Pathway’ was the theme of the day.
C.    The event was attended by large number of dignitaries from scientific and industry sectors both from within country and overseas.
11.  MoU between Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Skill Development.
A.    To conduct skill development training programmes for agriculture and allied sector the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship have signed MoU.
B.    At Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs), these skill development training programmes will be conducted.
