1.   World Hindi secretariat in Mauritius inaugurated by President of India.

              President of India

A.    The World Hindi Secretariat building on March 13, 2018 on the third day of his visit to Mauritius inaugurated by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind.
B.    A large ENT hospital being built with Indian assistance and World Hindi Secretariat’s logo was also launched by him.
C.   11th World Hindi Conference is going to be held in Mauritius in August 2018 was noted by president.
D.   Mauritius is the only country apart from India where this conference is being hosted for a third time.

 

2.   Global arms exporter list topped by US.
A.    The world’s biggest arms exporter in the past five years was the United States, while India imported the most weapons.
B.    This is according to a new Stockholm International Peace Research Institute report.
C.    The U.S. accounted for 34 percent of global major arms exports in 2013-2017 revealed by the SIPRI report.
D.    The list of arms importerst topped by India followed by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and China.

 

3.   Trials of India’s first hydrogen bus commenced by Tata Motors and IOC.
A.    The country’s first demonstration trials for a hydrogen fuel cell bus have begun by Tata Motors and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
B.    In the presence of Dr R Chidambaram, principal scientific adviser to the government of India and the chairman and board members of Indian Oil the demonstration event was held.
C.    From the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) under partial financial support the project is being executed.

 

4.   On Mass Rapid Transport Systems for Urban Areas a Regional Conference was held.
A.    On ‘Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) for Urban Areas – Opportunities and Challenges’ the first regional conference was organized in Kolkata.
B.   Ministry of Finance, AIIB, ASSOCHAM and Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) jointly organized the conference.

 

5.   International Police Conference on Cybercrime & Terrorism inaugurated by Home Minister.
A.     The two-day Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in New Delhi will inaugurated by Shri Rajnath Singh.
B.   “Challenges to Policing in 2020- How is Cyber Space shaping our approach to Cybercrime & Terrorism, how do we perform within it and take advantage of it” is the theme.
C.    The Asia-Pacific World Regional Office (APWRO) of the IACP in partnership with the Intelligence Bureau will organise the conference.
D.    As the Chair of APWRO, the Director, Intelligence Bureau is the host of the Conference.
E.    In the field of policing in recent times the phenomenal growth and influence of Cyber space and Cyber technology have opened new challenges.

 

6.   Letter of Undertaking discontinued by RBI.

A.    The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has discontinued issuance of LoUs by banks for trade credits for imports into India.
B.    This is discontinued in view of the alleged Rs 12,700-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, done through fraudulent issuance of Letter of Understanding (LoUs) by connivance of the bank’s staff.
C.    Letters of Credit and Bank Guarantees for trade credits for imports into India may continue to be issued subject to compliance with the provisions said by the RBI notification.

 

7.   As Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari relected.
A.    For a second term in office, Nepal’s first woman president Bidya Devi Bhandari has been relected.
B.    Nepali Congress leader Kumari Laxmi Rai with an overwhelming majority in the presidential election defeated by Incumbent President Bhandari.
C.    In 2015, she became Nepal’s first woman president.

 

8.   CIA’s first woman chief chosen Gina Haspel.
A.   Gina Haspel for the position of CIA Director U.S. President Donald Trump has chosen.
B.   Mike Pompeo will replaced by her.
C.    Its first woman chief will be the agency’s current Deputy Director, Ms. Haspel.
D.    She is a career spymaster who once ran an agency prison in Thailand.

  

9.   As Chile’s president Sebastian Pinera sworn.

Pinera sworn

A.    Promising to lower taxes and boost investment, Pinera, 68, was re-elected in last November elections and will serve until 2022.
B.   Pinera is the fourth wealthiest man in Chile, according to Forbes magazine.

 

10.  27th GD Birla Award won by Dr Rajan Sankaranarayanan.
A.    This award is for Scientific Research for year 2017.
B.    His laboratory has identified how chiral checkpoints ensure that D-chiral amino acids are excluded from the translation machinery using X-ray crystallography and biochemical approaches.

 

11.  Kochon Prize for TB research won by ICMR.
A.    For building tradition of excellence in Tuberculosis (TB) research and development won by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) was awarded 2017 Kochon Prize.
B.    From among 18 nominations it had emerged winner.
C.    For establishing India TB Research Consortium to accelerate R&D efforts in the country it was awarded.

 

12.  Newton-Bhabha fund for Groundwater Arsenic Research project wins India-UK joint team.
A.   Newton-Bhabha Fund for project on Groundwater Arsenic Research in Ganga River Basin has won by India-United Kingdom (UK) Joint Team.
B.    Department of Science and Technology (DST) in collaboration with Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) was undertaken the project.
