1.   Toll-free emergency no and Sukhad Yatra app launched for highway users.

Sukhdev Yatra

 A.   Sukhad Yatra mobile application and 1033 Toll-free Emergency number for highway users launched by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH).
 B.     It also launched scheme for District Driving Training Centres.
C.      It will provide grant of financial assistance for Road Safety Advocacy and awards for outstanding work in Road Safety.
D.      It has been prepared by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to empower Highway user.

 

2.   Rs. 1000 crore allocated by HRD Ministry for research in S&T.

Led Lights

A.    For phase II of Impacting Research Innovation and Technology (IMPRINT) India programme the Ministry of Human Resource Development has sanctioned Rs. 1000 crore.
B.    This is to boost research and innovation in the country.
C.    A fund is being created by Department of Science and Technology (DST) and HRD Ministry together, under the IMPRINT-II.
D.    In this participation will come from industry and other interested Ministries.
The project will be run as a separate vertical in coordination with DST.
 

3.   46th know India programme attended by 40 participants.

A.   46th edition of Know India Programme (KIP) attended by 40 participants of Indian Origin from 9 countries.
B.    Madhya Pradesh was partner state of this edition.
C.    At the Foreign Service Institute as part of the initiative participants visited Madhya Pradesh, Parliament House, President’s House and attended orientation programme.
 

4.   India starts importing LNG from US for the first time.

A.     Process of importing Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) from United States started by India for first time.
B.     The development comes on the heels of India’s first import of crude oil from the US in October 2017.
C.     The first US-sourced LNG shipment was imported by state-owned GAIL.
D.     It was shipped it on board of its chartered LNG ship ‘Meridian Spirit’ from Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG export facility in Louisiana.
E.     It will be discharged at GAIL’s Dabhol terminal, Maharashtra. 
 

5.   49 lakh LED street lights installed under Street Lightning National Programme.

A.   9 lakh LED street lights in 28 states/UTs under the Street Lighting National Programme (SLNP) installed by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).
B.     This information was given by Minister of State (IC) Power R K Singh in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.
C.     In January 2015 the Programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
D.     It aims to replace 1.34 crore conventional street lights with energy efficient LED lights by March, 2019.
 

6.   YesIBleed menstural hygiene campaign launched by govt.

A.    YesIBleed menstrual hygiene campaign on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2018 by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
B.     It is second edition of such campaign.
C.     It aims to create holistic approach to issue of menstruation, which is experience that transcends culture, class, and caste. 
 

7.   Jeff Bezos tops Forbes world’s rich list Mukesh Ambani richest Indian.

A.    For the 11th year in a row, Mukesh Ambani’s net worth has soared to $40.1 billion, making him the richest Indian.
B.    Amazon founder Jeff Bezos toppled Bill Gates as the world’s wealthiest person, says Forbes.
C.    Highest among the 119 Indian billionaires on the list Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani’s wealth surged a whopping 72.84% to $40.1 billion. 
 

8.   Multilateral lender EBRD joined by India.

A.     The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), has got the go-ahead to join.
B.     After shareholders of the London-based multilateral lender agreed to the country becoming its 69th member.
C.     In 1991, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development founded which is an international financial institution.
D.     In London, United Kingdom is Its headquarters.
 

9.   State of emergency amid violence declared by Sri Lanka.

A.     An island-wide state of emergency to curb growing anti-Muslim violence in the country’s Central Province declared by Sri Lanka.
B.     In two weeks unless the parliament votes to extend it the emergency will lapse.
C.     The emergency allows government to deploy the army in case of any violent clashes.
 

10.  Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system on a helicopter for the first time in the country.

A.    Researchers deployed an advanced Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system on a helicopter for the first time in the country.
B.    It is deployed to draw up a 3D map of Bengaluru city, to assess the potential for harnessing solar energy over each building, and provide civic agencies the data for better planning of all amenities in the state capital.
C.    At the Centre for Study of Science,Technology and Policy (CSTEP) the study, carried out by researchers.
11.  New Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio. 

Nagaland CM

A.      As the new Chief Minister of Nagaland Senior NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio was appointed by Governor P.B. Acharya.
B.      He would be sworn in Kohima on March 8, a Raj Bhavan source said.
C.      He had received Letters of Support in Mr. Rio’s favour from 12 legislators of the BJP said the Governor, one letter from the JD(U) and another from an Independent MLA, besides the 18 legislatures of the NDPP. 
 

12.  Brand Ambassador of Gaming Platform – MS Dhoni.

A.    Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has become a brand ambassador of gaming platform Dream11.
B.    According to the release, currently the gaming platform has an user base of 2 crore sports fans playing “fantasy cricket, football, kabaddi and NBA”. 
 

13.  At the age of 89 Veteran actress, Shammi passes away.

A.    She was popular for her comic roles.
B.    She had appeared in over 200 films that included ‘Coolie No 1’, ‘Hum’, ‘Gopi Kishan’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ over her long film career.
