Cutoff for RBI Grade B- Phase 1

Overview

  1. Recruitment Process is for selection for direct recruitment for Officers in Grade –B
  2. Recruitment process consists of following steps
    1. Phase-I online Examination (Objective Type): Maximum Mark – 200
      1. Only qualifying in nature that is you need to pass this exam to be eligible for giving phase – II Exam.
      2. Marks obtained in Phase-I will not be counted for final ranking.
    2. Phase-II online Examination – Maximum mark 350
      1. Three papers each of 100 marks
    3. Interview –  Maximum mark 50
    4. Total evaluation is out of 350 marks ( Phase –II and interview)

Analysis on individual Section

Caution : As the paper is not available so the following analysis is based on discussion with various aspirants and online sources

While the sectional cut-off remained same for all section and for all the categories, but there is a uniform increase of 10 marks in over all cut-off for all category.  (What is the reason behind so smooth change in cut-off?? – “One can only guess or can file an RTI”)

Few salient points about the question asked

  1. As the exam was on Sept 4, most of the current affairs were from month of July or at most last 3-months (June, July and Aug).
  2.  Any of serious candidate which has done the current affairs of months of June, July and till mid August can easily secure around 40-45 marks out of 80.
  3. Further, one or two questions were about government scheme launched with in last one year.
  4. Few questions were from the some changes in current schemes like in Gold Monetizing schemes etc.
  5. Few questions were from Budget. Whoever listen the budget speech carefully can easily answer those question. The full budget speech and text available at following link.

If observed, overall it is at moderate level and not difficult to clear the cut-off for phase I exam for General Study section. In fact it can help in clearing the overall Cut-off.

    1. As in all exams here the game is to complete question in minimum possible time which can be gained only through practice.
    1. So if one have serious prepared even half of the above topics can easily get 15 questions correct within half an hour.
    1. One quick preparation tip to aspirants who cannot devote much time to preparation
      1. while preparing for this section rather than targeting to all the topics of quantitative section target few  topic first
      2. Practice many question on these topics to be able to do the question quickly.
      3. Then proceed on further topics.

  1. Student rated the English paper easier compared to last year paper.

    1. Very less grammar was asked.
    1. Comprehension was not that difficult. Spotting error was very easy
    1. Even one with little preparation for English can easily get 10-15 questions right and with practice one can easily get 20-25 questions right in less than 15 min.
  1. Easier question does not mean that one should not prepare for English, as you never know about examiner mood he can throw difficult question in next exam. And you also have to be prepared for other exams as well.
